Meet the Erbium Laser Resurfacing Team

The Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital is led by four consultants working inside a tertiary general hospital. Ke He, MD, is responsible for the medical review of this site. A decision between a lower-heat and a heat-heavier ablation genuinely involves the other three — the dermatological view on pigment and on skin that treatment has already irritated, and the surgical view on whether a concern sits too deep for any surface treatment.

Skin & laser aesthetics · erbium depth and pass planning · pigment risk in darker skin

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service — and she is the lead physician of this site. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.

Her approach to erbium is built on the pass count. Because each pass removes a shallow layer and leaves little heat behind, depth is decided by how many passes an area receives rather than by one deep setting, and she treats that count as a consent item rather than a technical detail. Skin that has darkened after a previous injury or laser treatment is primed for longer and treated more lightly, and a test spot is observed before a full plan is fixed. Where the concern is looseness, a descended jawline or a fold that survives gentle lifting, her part of the conversation is the one that says a lower-heat ablation does not reach it and names what does.

Clinical focus

  • Erbium candidacy, and how deep the concern sits before any pass count is set
  • Pass planning and how many times one area can be treated before the ceiling is reached
  • Pigment risk assessment in darker skin, including after previous laser treatment
  • Test-spot review and the interval before a full treatment is planned
  • Skin preparation before erbium, and barrier repair through the raw days and pink weeks

Passes are the plan, not a detail

With a shallower ablation the result is built out of passes rather than out of one deep setting, and every pass removes tissue that does not come back. A plan that does not tell you how many passes are proposed, and how many the area has already had, has not finished explaining itself.

Not sure whether a shallower ablation is the right plan for your skin?

An assessment starts with how deep the concern actually sits and whether a surface treatment reaches it at all. We will say plainly what erbium would change, how many passes are proposed, what the raw days and pink weeks involve, what the pigment risk is in your skin, and what we would advise instead if a different class of treatment is the honest answer.
